Dengue Fever, Bong Bong Bong

A friend from San Francisco introduced me to a Los Angeles group called Dengue Fever.

OK before you start laughing, here's the thing, it's an American band that sings in Khmer, or Cambodian.

According to Wikipedia,

"Dengue Fever is a six-member band from Los Angeles who combine Cambodian pop music and lyrics with psychedelic rock. They were formed in 2001 by Ethan Holtzman and his brother Zac after Ethan was inspired by a trip to Cambodia. Lead singer Chhom Nimol was discovered performing at a night club in the Little Phnom Penh area of Long Beach as Ethan and Zac were searching for a vocalist to sing in Khmer."

I just got two of their CDs from Amazon {"Dengue Fever" and "Escape from Dragon House"}. Their first CD, instead of being a music CD, contains all the songs in high quality music file. That save me like 3 minutes of ripping. Cool.

I am a big fan of the music from the 60s and 70s. It was devastating when the last oldies station 101.1FM was closed and it became "JACK FM."

Here's a music video "Sui Bong" I found on youtube. This same video was included in their CD "Escape from Dragon House." Give it some time, it gets better. Or as Jay Leno would say, it gets "gooder,"

I am heading to San Francisco for a wedding after the Saturday wedding. I am copying my files and what not to catch up on the editing, as well as updating the blog, while I am in the west coast.

Andie and Blake, Bubby's Pie Co wedding, April

Bubby's Pie Co
Brooklyn, NY

Chance has it that I am shooting Andie and Blake's wedding and reception in Bubby's Restaurant a week after Diana and Steigs.

Andie's place has tons of old-school toys; awesome.

Nintendo. Ahh, good old days...

Great to see Matt Hilgenbergin action. I thought I've seen that slightly aged trumpet some where before. Matt was also listed under my "friend's page. The bass player shaved his beard and I couldn't recognize the gang for a sec.

So after seeing the previous video I went on to see more of Lasse's videos on youtube. His stuffs are very thoughtful, well planned out, humorous and very well executed. Check out more of his stuffs on youtube when you got a chance; you won't regret it.

This is the sickest thing I've seen in a long long time. According to the maker it's purely edited with no other alteration. Wait until the duet with himself.
